Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux, Quebec (June 10, 2021): Nicolas-Riou LP, on behalf of its owners – EDF Invest, Régie intermunicipale de l’énergie du Bas-Saint-Laurent (RIEBSL), and Régie Intermunicipale de l’énergie Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine (RIEGÎM), is pleased to contribute $100,000 CAD in support of food security organizations in Eastern Quebec. In total 17 organizations covering all regional county municipalities of Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie-Îles[1]de-la-Madeleine will receive funding.

Simon Deschênes, President of RIEGÎM said, “The RCMs of Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine are grateful for support of our local food banks in this time of need. This donation goes beyond what Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine municipalities and Maliseet Viger First Nation are already receiving through their ownership in the project as well as the annual contribution of over CAD $1.2 million to the regions, throughout the Project’s 25-year contract with Hydro Quebec.
”Nicolas-Riou, 50-percent owned by EDF Invest, 33-percent by RIEBSL and 17-percent by RIEGÎM, is located in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, on the private and public lands of TNO Boisbouscache and the municipalities of Sainte-Françoise, Saint-Mathieu-de-Rioux, Saint[1]Médard (RCM Basques) and Saint-Eugene-de-Ladrière (RCM of Rimouski-Neigette). The Project represents an investment of nearly CAD $500 million.
