ESCONDIDO, CA. (July 20, 2009): – enXco, an EDF Renouvelables Company (PARIS: EEN) and Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) have entered into a Power Purchase Agreement for a 201 megawatt wind facility to be built in southwestern Minnesota.
enXco will develop, build, and own the wind project consisting of 134 GE 1.5 MW turbines while IPL will purchase the power generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The project, expected to be operational by the end of 2010, will be operated and maintained by enXco Service Corporation.
“This agreement between enXco and IPL builds on the experience our two companies attained through the development of the 106 MW Hoosier Wind Project in Benton County Indiana which is currently under construction. Both projects have excellent access to the high-voltage network in the Midwest allowing customers in Indianapolis to benefit from two of the premier wind-energy basins in the country. We are pleased to extend an already successful relationship with IPL and to continue to add renewable resources to the energy supply mix in the Upper Midwest.” said Tristan Grimbert, president & CEO of enXco.
The Lakefield Wind Project, which is subject to the approval of the IURC as well as the Minnesota Public Utility Commission (MPUC), is the result of an RFP issued by IPL in December 2008.
