ESCONDIDO, CA. (August 6, 2009): – enXco Service Corporation – an EDF Renouvelables Company (Paris: EEN), has begun providing full operations and maintenance services under a multi-year Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Agreement with Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative.
The services include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and 24/7 remote monitoring for two wind energy projects located 40 miles apart in Dickinson and Kossuth counties of northwest Iowa. Each site consists of seven, 1.5-megawatt GE turbines, with a total capacity of 21 megawatts.
“These are the first cooperative-owned, community-based wind projects that enXco Service Corp will provide services to through an O&M Agreement. The projects are further unique as they provide power to ethanol plants located nearby,” commented Dave Luck, Director of Business Development for enXco Service Corp. “The O&M services will be provided by the extensive resources we have in the region, with remote monitoring from our Operations & Control Center (OCC) located in Chandler, Minnesota.”
The two wind farms, strategically located to provide power to adjoining ethanol plants, will generate more than 71 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy annually, which is enough electricity to power the ethanol plants. The cooperative wind projects are locally-owned by approximately 9,000 citizens in northwest Iowa and are first-in-the-nation designs that utilize wind energy to serve another renewable energy source.
“Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative is extremely pleased to have enXco Service providing its professional O&M services on a daily basis to ensure the ongoing success of cooperative-owned wind farms,” said Kirby Berhow, Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative’s Manager of Renewable Energy Services.
