SAN DIEGO, (August 20, 2012) – enXco, an EDF Renouvelables Company, announces a name change to EDF Renewables. The new brand name is a natural progression of the integration process with the EDF group, the leading electricity company in the world.
Ten years ago, EDF Renouvelables, the EDF subsidiary specializing in renewable energy, acquired enXco, initiating tremendous growth in the company throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. At the time of the acquisition, the EDF group (Electricité de France) owned 50% of EDF Renouvelables. EDF acquired the remaining 50% of EDF Renouvelables in August 2011, and enXco is now fully integrated within the Group under a new name, EDF Renewables.
EDF Renewables is maintaining the delineation between the Development group and the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) group – formerly enXco Service Corporation – by changing the name of the O&M group to EDF Renewables. The services division will continue to perform all required O&M for wind and solar energy projects. With more than 6 gigawatts of power under contract, EDF Renewables is the leading provider of third-party operations and maintenance services in North America.
The closer alignment to the EDF group allows EDF Renewables and EDF Renewables to capitalize on shared knowledge, financial strength and long-term stability.
“EDF Renewables is an innovative company with dedicated and passionate employees, and we’re proud of our 25 years of expertise in the renewable industry, covering all range of services from project development, management to operations and maintenance,” said President and CEO Tristan Grimbert. “The full integration with EDF allows for increased global backing, new financial and technical resources, and the stability to expand our business, while maintaining our entrepreneurial spirit. We will continue to work collaboratively with our customers and clients as a local partner, ensuring mutual respect and accountability to deliver the best projects and service possible. The deeper affiliation with EDF will create a stronger U.S. subsidiary poised to meet future challenges.”
EDF Renewables specializes in wind, solar, biomass and biogas project design, development, construction, operations and maintenance. It develops, builds, owns and operates renewable energy projects in the U.S. for its own account as well as for third party ownership.
