SAN DIEGO (July 3, 2014): EDF Renewables (EDF RE) has placed a firm order with Vestas for 450 megawatt (MW) of wind turbine generators, for projects in New Mexico and Kansas. The order is part of the Master Supply Agreement (MSA) announced in September 2013.
“EDF Renewables is pleased to be working with Vestas to bring an additional 450 MW of U.S. wind projects online by the end of 2015,” said Ryan Pfaff, Executive Vice President of EDF Renewables. “The projects have long-term power purchase agreements in place with creditworthy counterparties, and will create new construction and long-term operations jobs in the local communities.”
“It’s a privilege for Vestas to continue working with a leading global energy company such as EDF Renewables. The 450 MW of orders includes our first V110-2.0 MW project with EDF RE,” says Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the United States and Canada. He continues, “The U.S. market is highly competitive and driven by cost of energy, and we are pleased that EDF Renewables has such confidence in the Vestas 2.0 MW platform, especially for projects of these magnitudes.”
EDF Renewables’ U.S. portfolio spans 17 states with over 5 gigawatt (GW) of developed projects and an installed capacity of 2 GW of wind, solar, biogas and biomass projects.
