SAN DIEGO (April 1, 2014): EDF Renewables has placed a firm order with Vestas for 194 megawatts (MW) of V100-2.0 MW wind turbine generators. The order is part of the Master Supply Agreement (MSA) announced in September 2013.
The most recent order brings the firm commitment of the Vestas turbines to 494 MW to meet the demands of the projects in the Texas panhandle. Deliveries and commissioning are expected to be complete in the 4th Quarter of 2015.
“This order represents another important milestone under the Master Supply Agreement between EDF Renewables and Vestas, and supports our near-term wind project construction program in the Texas Panhandle, resulting in new local jobs, taxes and other forms of economic development,” said Ryan Pfaff, Executive Vice President of EDF Renewables. “EDF Renewables values its relationship with Vestas, and looks forward to continued collaboration under the MSA going forward.”
“Vestas values the close collaboration we have with EDF Renewables. This order is a strong vote of confidence from one of the most experienced wind energy developers in the country, and we look forward to continuing to deliver projects under the Master Supply Agreement the two companies announced an expansion of in September 2013,” said Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the United States and Canada. “Wind energy is a job-creator in this country, and this order will help keep our Colorado factories busy.”
EDF Renewables’ U.S. portfolio spans 16 states with over 4,000 MW of developed projects and an installed capacity of 1,863 MW of wind, solar, biogas and biomass projects.
