Montréal, Québec February 14, 2012 – EDF Renewables Inc. announces the promotion of Benoît Rigal to Vice President, Engineering and Construction.
In this role, Mr. Rigal is responsible for managing technical studies, procurement, logistics, construction and commissioning of all wind energy projects. He further has oversight over the technical support to future project development within Canada.
Based in Montreal, Mr. Rigal joined EDF Energies Nouvelles in February 2007 as Deputy Head of Construction in the Paris headquarters. In this role he managed the engineering and construction for both wind and solar projects located in France, Greece, Italy, and the UK. During this time he also served as Technical Coordinator for EDF EN’s role in the Saint Laurent Energies (SLE) consortium. He later transferred to Québec as the Technical Director for EDF Renewables.
“This promotion is a well deserved recognition of Benoît’s dedication and attention to EDF EN. His comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy business and tireless efforts to achieve success is admirable,” commented Al Kurzenhauser, COO of EDF Renewables. “It is important that we continue to be well positioned and staffed to deliver on our commitment to the Province to build over 1 GW of wind energy facilities and are pleased to have Benoît step into this demanding leadership role.”
Prior to joining EDF EN, Benoît held progressive positions within Technip Group as construction and project engineer for projects in Bahrain, Singapore, and Qatar.
Benoît holds a Mastère Spécialisé in Innovation & Technology Management from EM Lyon, and five years of studies at the ECAM (Ecole Catholique d’Arts et Métiers): an engineering school in Lyon (France) covering the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, Material and Civil Engineering.
