EDF Energies Nouvelles has announced the signature of a deal with Clipper Turbine Works, a subsidiary of US manufacturer Clipper Wind power, to supply 27 wind turbines, each with 2.5 MW in capacity, to build the La Ventosa wind farm in Mexico. This order will help EDF Energies Nouvelles to take a decisive step forward with its plans to build the 67.5 MW wind farm in Oaxaca, Mexico. Construction is due to be completed by year-end 2009. The electricity generated will supply several Wal-Mart stores under a power purchase agreement that has already been signed. enXco, EDF EN’s Us subsidiary, will provide supervision of the construction activities as well as be in charge of the Operation and Maintenance of the project.
This order with a new turbine supplier fits perfectly with the Group’s strategy of diversifying its purchases.
